Explanation and Rules
The Bloomsday – Hoopfest Team Championship (“BHTC”) will consist of a team of exactly four individuals. These four people must be the same for both Bloomsday and Hoopfest. There will be separate male and female divisions and teams must sign up for this competition prior to the Bloomsday run, which takes place on May 2, 2010, since the BHTC competition encompasses both Bloomsday and Hoopfest. Once team forms are sent in, no substitutions are allowed.
The competition is straightforward. The Bloomsday times for the four BHTC runners on each team will be recorded. Your team will receive a Bloomsday ranking based on those four times. This same four member team will compete in a Hoopfest bracket against other same gender BHTC teams. Your Hoopfest bracket will NOT be based on age, height, or other factors, as all BHTC teams will be placed in the same Hoopfest bracket. Additional bracketing considerations may be implemented by Hoopfest, for example if more than a full Hoopfest bracket (16 teams) exists of the same gender BHTC teams. Your team will receive a Hoopfest ranking based on where you finish in your bracket. After Hoopfest ends, we will determine each BHTC team's overall ranking. Any resulting ties in scoring will be broken using your Hoopfest ranking. You must be at least 18 years old to participate in the BHTC.
BHTC teams must follow all of the adopted rules and regulations in place for both Bloomsday and Hoopfest, in addition to the special rules adopted for the BHTC competition.
To enter Bloomsday, simply have your four team members individually complete the Bloomsday registration form (or enter online) and individually pay the applicable race fee. To enter Hoopfest, have the same four people complete a Hoopfest paper entry form, signing up for the BHTC division prior to the indicated Hoopfest registration deadline. However, prior to the Bloomsday run date of May 2, 2010, each BHTC team must also complete and submit the Official BHTC Application Form and pay the additional fee. The BHTC form is available online at www.bloomsdayrun.org and www.spokanehoopfest.net. Hoopfest and Bloomsday will compare their records to ensure that each potential BHTC team has officially signed up for both events. Bloomsday and Hoopfest reserve the right to cancel the BHTC competition if a minimum number of teams don’t register and also to limit the total number of teams participating in this event.
Each Bloomsday finisher will receive his/her normal Bloomsday finisher T-shirt and each Hoopfest player his/her normal Hoopfest player T-shirt. In addition, each BHTC participant will receive a BHTC logo T-shirt. Furthermore, each BHTC team that enters by April 15th will have a preferred starting spot in Bloomsday (yellow starting group) and be placed on a court in the downtown core for Hoopfest. The winning BHTC teams will receive additional prizes from Bloomsday and Hoopfest.
The fee to enter BHTC is $100, plus the entry fees for Bloomsday and Hoopfest.
